MOD & Armed Forces
When the Defence Vetting Agency (DVA) was created by merging the Vetting Operations of the Royal Navy, the Army, the Royal Air Force and the MoD Staff, it was realised that a huge, paper based Records System would be created and that full control of the location and movement of files would be of paramount importance and it was clear that a manual system would not be adequate.
Cave Tab were selected in a competitive tendering process to supply a 150 x user barcode file tracking system, which was commissioned in 2002. In 2007/08 this has been upgraded to Cave Tab's new web-based system FileTrail.
FileTrail gives the DVA fully automated control over the movement of a huge number of files throughout a large and busy HQ building and outside. Barcode control of up to 10,000 file locations is easily managed and maintained.
"FileTrail is an integral part of the DVA's electronic processing. Without it we would have to track upwards of 400,000 hard copy files manually within the DVA and to and from our customers - a mammoth task requiring considerably more than the current number of library staff. The installation and ongoing support of first File Tracker and then its replacement, FileTrail, by Cave Tab has been excellent" - Sue Freeman, IS Manager, Defence Vetting Agency
